Detroit Pistons Scheduled To Tip-Off 2015-16 NBA Season On October 27

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – The Detroit Pistons, led by the young core of Andre Drummond, Reggie Jackson and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope will begin the 2015-16 season on the road against the Atlanta Hawks, the top seed in the Eastern Conference last season, on Tuesday, October 27 (8 p.m. EST), it was announced today by the National Basketball Association.  This year's squad featuring 2015 first round pick Stanley Johnson and summer acquisitions Ersan Ilyasova, Marcus Morris and Aron Baynes will host the Utah Jazz in the home opener on Wednesday, October 28 (7:30 p.m. EST) at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

Highlights of the Pistons' home schedule include two appearances by LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love and the Eastern Conference Champion Cleveland Cavaliers (November 17 and January 29) and two visits from Derrick Rose, Pau Gasol, Jimmy Butler and the Central Division rival Chicago Bulls (October 30 and January 18 - Martin Luther King Jr. Day).  Reigning NBA MVP Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Michigan-native Draymond Green and the NBA Champion Golden State Warriors visit January 16, LaMarcus Aldridge, Tim Duncan, Kawhi Leonard and the San Antonio Spurs visit January 12 and Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder visit The Palace on March 29.

 

Other intriguing contests include two matchups against Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan and the Toronto Raptors (February 8 and February 28) and two meetings against the Milwaukee Bucks, featuring Greg Monroe's return to The Palace (December 4 and March 21).  Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Goran Dragic and the Miami HEAT visit the day before Thanksgiving on November 25 and April 12, Detroit's last home game of the year.  Dwight Howard, James Harden and the Houston Rockets make their lone visit to Detroit on November 30, Kobe Bryant and the L.A. Lakers visit December 6 and Blake Griffin, Chris Paul and the L.A. Clippers come to Detroit on December 14.  The Pistons will also play the day after Christmas vs. Boston (December 26) and on New Year's Eve (December 31) against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

 

Detroit will embark on a six-game West Coast road trip in November, their longest road trip of the year, with games at Phoenix (November 6), Portland (November 8), Golden State (November 9), Sacramento (November 11), L.A. Clippers (November 14) and L.A. Lakers (November 15).  A four-game home stand starts against Houston (November 30), followed by Phoenix (December 2), Milwaukee (December 4) and the L.A. Lakers (December 6).  Detroit will take the first of two four-game road trips starting in late January with matchups at Houston (January 20), New Orleans (January 21), Denver (January 23) and Utah (January 25).  The second four-game road trip begins at Dallas (March 9), Charlotte (March 11), Philadelphia (March 12) and ends at Washington (March 14).  A season-high nine-game home stretch follows vs. Atlanta (March 16), Sacramento (March 18), Brooklyn (March 19), Milwaukee (March 21), Orlando (March 23), Charlotte (March 25), Atlanta (March 26), Oklahoma City (March 29) and Dallas (April 1).

 

Detroit will make four national television appearances this season on NBA TV.  NBA TV will broadcast Pistons games at Brooklyn on Monday, February 1 (7:30 p.m. EST), vs. Portland on Sunday, March 6 (6 p.m. EST), vs. Charlotte on Friday, March 25 (7:30 p.m. EST) and at Chicago on Saturday, April 2 (8 p.m. EST).  The club's local television schedule on Fox Sports Detroit will be announced at a later date.  All games will be broadcast on radio by Detroit Sports 105.1 FM.

 

The Pistons' schedule features 20 sets of back-to-back games this season.  Seven of its back-to-backs begin on the road and conclude at home, six sets fall on the road, five begin at home and end on the road and two of the sets are at home.
