Traffic Alert: I-75 In Detroit To Close For Bridge Demolition This Weekend
DETROIT (WWJ) - If you take I-75 to get to Detroit, you might want to consider a detour this weekend.
MDOT is closing both directions of I-75 (Fisher Freeway) between I-75 (Chrysler Freeway) and M-10 (Lodge Freeway), starting at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, with lanes expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17.
The closure will allow crews to demolish the northbound lanes of the Woodward Avenue freeway overpass as part of the M-1 Rail project.
Northbound I-75 will be closed at the I-75/M-10 (Lodge Freeway)/Rosa Parks Boulevard shared ramp. The exit ramps from northbound I-75 to Clark and Livernois avenues will remain open but the entrance ramps will be closed. In addition, the eastbound I-96 and M-10 (Lodge Freeway) ramps to northbound I-75 will be closed.
During the closure, northbound I-75 motorists will be detoured via westbound I-96 and eastbound I-94 to get back to northbound I-75. One lane of traffic will remain open from northbound I-75 to M-10 for local traffic.
Southbound motorists will be detoured via westbound I-94 to eastbound I-96 to get back to southbound I-75. The ramp from northbound I-375 and southbound M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) will be closed. The northbound and southbound M-10 ramps to southbound I-75 will be open.
