Jumping on the alternate jersey bandwagon, Eastern Michigan athletics announced this week that the football team will be wearing a trio of brand new uniforms this season.
The green and gold look was designed to commemorate the legacy of Hall of Fame cross-country and track and field coach Bob Parks on Sept. 5 against Old Dominion.
"Keeping with the tribute to the track team, the numbers are written in a stopwatch-style script. The yellow pants, made to resemble the shorts worn by track & field athletes, showcase the jersey number on the left thigh."
The all-white look the team will don on the road against Wyoming was a design submitted by the team's seniors.
"It is a blessing and an honor to be able to help create your own jersey as a player," said senior defensive back Jalen Williams. "It is like creating your player on a game when you were younger."
Against Army on Sept. 19, the Eagles will wear a red, white, blue and gray uniforms in honor of military appreciation.
"The hero style jerseys will be auctioned off following the game, with all proceeds benefiting Washtenaw 100, which is a 40-year old organization of area business and government leaders whose mission is to support the families of active police officers and fire fighters who serve within Washtenaw County."
Season tickets -- as well as single-game tickets -- are now on sale for the six-game home slate.
