According to a report from SportsBusiness Daily, Fox and Major League Baseball are close to a deal that would allow Tigers fans to livestream games on their computer, phone or tablet beginning with the 2016 season.

Fox currently holds the media rights to 15 MLB teams, including the Tigers and three fellow AL Central teams (the Cleveland Indians, Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins). The streaming service reportedly being agreed to would include those 15 markets, where fans could watch the entire season "on Fox Sports RSN websites and the FoxSportsGo app, plus distributors' websites and apps," according to SportsBusiness Daily.

Streaming services such as Hulu and Netflix have exploded in recent years, but streaming of live sporting events has lagged behind and kept many from abandoning their cable subscriptions. Livestreaming of all Tigers games could be another reason for Detroit sports fans to cord cut and step away from cable TV.

According to the SBD story, an official deal between Fox and the MLB is expected to be reached by the end of this season.

Many expect next season to be a better year for the Tigers, who hover below the .500 mark now at 56-61 and trail the first-place Royals by 15 games. Detroit elected to think long-term at this year's trade deadline, where they unloaded ace David Price, as well as Yoenis Cespedes and Joakim Soria, in return for several young talents such as left-handed pitcher Daniel Norris.

With the way things are shaking down -- according to this report -- it will be much simpler to watch what next year's squad will do.
