Amber Alert Canceled For 3-Year-Old Michigan Boy, Spotted With Mom In Indiana
ALPENA (WWJ) - An Amber Alert has been canceled for a missing 3-year-old boy and his mother.
Michigan State Police say Keegan Elijah Waterman and his mother, Christina Waterman, were spotted in Muncie, Indiana Wednesday morning.
A postal worker who spoke with both the mother and the child said they seemed fine and were not under any stress, according to police. The alert was issued for the pair Monday night after they were last spotted in Alpena on Sunday.
Police said that Christina Waterman took the toddler from his caregiver in the middle of the night or in the early morning hours, and without consent. That's why, police said, they were concerned about the boy's well-being.
Police — who have received numerous tips about potential sighting of the pair — say they are still investigating this as a missing persons complaint until Keegan's welfare can be "properly verified."
At the same time, however, police say there is no indication that the child is in danger or that any crime has been committed.
Keegan is described as a 4-foot-3, 55-pound light-skinned black or biracial male with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a diaper and sandals. Christina Waterman is a 39-year-old white female, 5 feet, 7 inches tall with blonde hair and a medium build.
The boy and his mother may be traveling in a tan 2000 Chevy Tahoe with a Tennessee license plate of U4758V.
