MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ/AP) - A judge has scheduled a November trial date for a 76-year-old Macomb County man accused of fatally shooting his great-grandchildren's father.

Donald Miller will stand trial Nov. 3 on charges of second-degree murder in the shooting death of 31-year-old Bondaryl McCall Jr. outside Miller's Macomb Township home in February.

Miller's granddaughter and her children lived with him. McCall was her ex-boyfriend and father to three of her kids.

Authorities say McCall had gone to Miller's home to pick up one of his children for visitation. The men were in the driveway arguing when Miller shot McCall six times. Everyone else was inside the home on Lone Pine Lane, in a neighborhood off of Hall and Heydenreich roads.

A medical examiner testified at a preliminary exam that McCall received two gunshots to the back of the head, three gunshots to the back, and one to the arm, according to the Macomb Daily. The evidence indicated Miller fired repeatedly as he followed McCall, who tried to escape, the newspaper reported.

A motive for the shooting has not yet been revealed.

An attorney for McCall is expected to seek a verdict of manslaughter.

Miller remains free on bond.
