Petition Seeks To Ban Caitlyn Jenner Halloween Costume

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) More than 2,500 people have signed a change.org petition demanding Spirit Halloween remove a costume depicting transgender Caitlyn Jenner.

The costume features the white bustier Olympic champ Jenner famously wore when revealed to the world for the first time as a woman on the cover of "Vanity Fair."

Whether it's an homage or a mockery, thousands want it gone.

"To make a costume out of a marginalized identity reduces that person and community to a stereotype for privileged people to abuse," the petition says. "In this case, if you follow through with production of a Caitlyn Jenner costume, cisgender (non-transgender) people will purchase it to make fun of her and our community.

"At a time when trans women and GNC folx, especially black trans women, are being murdered at such a high rate, and homelessness, unemployment, and inaccessbility to healthcare run rampant in our community, making fun of one or all of us is utterly insensitive and deplorable."

The anti-costume petition is signed by Addison Rose Vincent, Transfeminine Genderqueer Activist.

This isn't the first petition that has centered on Jenner. Another one in June demanded the return of Jenner's medals, as they were earned while she was a man.
