With the deadline approaching on Tuesday at 4 p.m. for the Lions to cut their roster to 75 players, they made more moves Tuesday morning, releasing wide receiver Anthony Peacock, linebacker Justin Cherocci and tight end Jacob Maxwell.

Those three transactions brought Detroit's roster down to 75 players.

In addition, the Lions made official their trade to acquire tight end Tim Wright. Wright played the 2014 season for the Patriots, where he caught 26 passes for 259 yards and six touchdowns. The Bucs picked him up on the waiver wire this offseason, then made the trade with Detroit on Monday, acquiring kicker Kyle Brindza in return.

With the roster down to 75 as of Tuesday, the team has until Saturday at 4 p.m. to get down to 53 players.

The wide receiver spots have been the most competitive so far, according to head coach Jim Caldwell, who said on Tuesday that highly-competitive spots like that sometimes come down to the last week of the preseason. Questions also remain about whether the team will keep two or three quarterbacks on the active roster, as well as how many running backs Detroit will keep (and if preseason star Zach Zenner will be included).

Before the next round of cuts begins, the Lions will play the Bills in their final preseason game, Thursday at 7:30.
