There's A New "Transporter" In Town And He's Here To Stay

DETROIT (WWJ) - The "refueled" Transporter arrives in theaters today -- minus Jason Statham in the starring role. Ed Skrein, of Game of Thrones, replaces him.

"You're gonna make me late, and I hate being late." Those words made famous in The Transporter films and Skrein, in his new role, uses them in a key scene from "The Transporter Refueled."

I have to admit that because I'm a huge Jason Statham fan, I was all set to NOT like this film. I even tweeted early on that I couldn't imagine a Transporter film without Statham. But, after watching Skrein in action, I changed my mind quickly -- very quickly. Skrein is a good-looking guy, he's certainly buff enough and he's commanding as Transporter Frank Martin.

In this refueled version of the hit film franchise, the transporter is hired by a beautiful femme fatale to transport her, along with two packages to her desired destination. Little does he know what he's really getting himself into.

There's no shortage of action in this film. It starts off strong and keeps the adrenaline racing. There's an airplane scene, in fact, that is one of the most daring I've ever seen. And those camera shots of the French Riviera, filmed by Canadian director of photography Christophe Collette, are absolutely gorgeous.

In addition to Ed Skrein, The Transporter Refueled also stars Ray Stevenson, as Frank Martin, Sr.

If you're planning to see a flick over the long Labor Day holiday weekend, The Transporter Refueled would be a very good choice.

See you at the movies!
