DETROIT (CBS Detroit) It started as a rumor on social media, and we were suspicious.

Pumpkin spice flavored sausage? No way.

Well, it's just been confirmed. There is such a thing, and it's sold by the Giant Food Stores, an East Coast grocery chain.

Reaction was swift on social media, with many reacting with incredulity.

This follows items such as pumpkin spice yogurt, cereal, pudding, M&Ms, Hershey's kisses, coffee creamer, hummus, Pringles, butter, chewing gum, pasta sauce, shampoo, Oreos, Pop-Tarts -- all led by the granddaddy of them all: the pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks. Those went on sale this week.
