Magglio Ordonez Jr, Son Of Former All-Star, Suspended

NEW YORK (AP) — Detroit outfielder Magglio Ordonez Jr., a son of retired six-time All-Star Magglio Ordonez, has been suspended for 50 games under baseball's minor league drug program following a second positive test for a drug of abuse.

The 19-year-old hit .108 with three RBIs in 19 games this year with the Gulf Coast League Tigers, his second season with the team. His suspension will start at the beginning of next season.

His father hit .309 with 294 homers and 1,236 RBIs for the Chicago White Sox and Detroit from 1997-11.

New York Yankees shortstop Holman Miranda was suspended for 72 games Tuesday following a positive test for metabolites of Nandrolone, a penalty that also will start next season. Miranda, 17, hit .240 with 16 RBIs this year in the Dominican Summer League.

There have been 85 suspensions this year under the minor league program, including 33 for drugs of abuse.
