Detroit's Eastern Market Transforms Into 1 Night Playground For After-Hours Exploring

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Lofts, studios and galleries around Detroit's Eastern Market are opening for a special nighttime event.

The Detroit Design Festival's Eastern Market After Dark takes place Thursday from 7 to 11 p.m., transforming the market into a playground for after-hours exploring.

More than 30 venues will open their doors to the public for a rare and exclusive behind-the-scenes peek into the studios, workshops and galleries that make Eastern Market what it is today. The event also features a food truck rally, taking place in Shed 2.

The Detroit Design Festival runs through this weekend and brings together hundreds of designers and others to the city. The Detroit Design Festival is presented by the economic development organization Detroit Creative Corridor Center, also called DC3.

Also at Eastern Market, the Murals In the Market festival has been taking place this month and visitors can see murals being painted by artists.
