Art From The Heart: DCD Students Create Art For Kids In Children's Hospital

DETROIT (CBS DETROIT) - Art from the heart. The latest artistic talents of 30 Detroit Country Day students are framed and now on display at the Detroit Children's Hospital cafeteria. The student-artists had a chance to come to the hospital and see the impact of their efforts.

Country Day Headmaster Glen Shilling says it means a lot to the kids at school as well as the hospital.

"This is the best," says Shilling, "We have the opportunity to celebrate children and what they are giving to other children."

"And the fact that they know that they are providing other people with some good feelings about what they have done - giving of themselves is something we talk to our students about all the time, it's part of the culture of our school," says Shilling.

Middle Schooler Maria Sicilia among the students lending their talents for a good cause:

"It makes you feel good because you can do something that you like -- and make other people happy," says Sicilia.

This is the 14th year students at Country Day have provided their works of art to cheer up young patients.

The exhibit will be on display for a year in the cafeteria and then move to another areas of the hospital.
