Bedbugs, Black Mold, Force Residents To Plea For Help From Housing Commission

PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) - The Pontiac Housing Commission says it's working to resolve complaints from people in a low-income building about mice, bedbugs and black mold.

Residents of Carriage Circle apartments told WDIV-TV that conditions were deplorable. They gave the television station photos of dead mice stuck to glue traps. Some showed what they say are bite marks on their skin from bedbugs. Video also shows mold and roaches.

Ahmed R. Taylor, executive director of the Pontiac Housing Commission, sent the station a message Sunday saying "we are aware of the issues and concerns of our residents and have been consistently addressing them during a very challenging funding environment."

Taylor says begbug extermination efforts are taking place at the apartments in the Detroit suburb and other pests will be dealt with next.
