Oakland Man Accused Of Assault On Woman In Case Of Road Rage
BRANDON TWP. (WWJ) - An Oakland County man is behind bars accused of beating on a woman in a case of road rage.
According to Oakland County Sheriff's officials, a couple of passersby saw the suspect — a 59-year-old Brandon Township man — physically assaulting a young woman on the shoulder of Sashabaw Rd., near Seymour Lake Rd.
When the pair of good Samaritans tried to help the woman, the suspect allegedly drew a stainless semi-automatic handgun and pointed it at them before fleeing the scene.
One of the witnesses followed the suspect's car and called 911. Deputies pulled the suspect over at Pine Knob Rd. near Clarkston Rd., found him to be armed with the weapon the witnesses described, and arrested him. He also had a knife on him, according to authorities.
Deputies pulled over the suspect who'd fled the scene. He was taken into custody at Pine Knob Rd. near Clarkston Rd., officials said, and the weapon described by the witnessed was recovered — along with a mechanically operated knife.
The victim, a 21-year-old Brandon Township woman, was checked out by EMS and believed to be OK.
An investigation revealed the woman and the suspect had earlier been involved in a road rage dispute, sheriff's officials said.
The suspect, who has several prior felony convictions for weapons violations, was lodged at the Oakland County Jail awaiting charges. His name was not immediately released.
