Rescue Groups Take Dozens Of Dogs And Cats Found At Royal Oak Home

ROYAL OAK (AP) - Dozens of dogs and cats discovered at a suburban Detroit home are in the care of animal rescue groups.

Oakland County authorities feared they might be forced to euthanize the animals. But just five cats out of 84 were killed, along with one dog out of seven.

Bob Gatt of Oakland County animal control tells the Detroit Free Press that those six had ringworm or other serious ailments. He's praising the animal rescue groups, which want to remain anonymous.

The cats and dogs were discovered at a Royal Oak home on Sept. 29.
