Man Dies Following Mobile Home Fire In Dearborn Heights

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. (AP) - A man has died following a mobile home fire in suburban Detroit that authorities say likely was accidental.

Crews responded Sunday in Dearborn Heights after a neighbor at the Riverside Properties mobile home park saw smoke and called 911.

Fire Chief Dave Brogan says firefighters found the man unconscious and pulled him from the burning home. TV stations WDIV and WXYZ report the man was taken to a hospital and died.

Brogan says the man was apparently sleeping when the fire started. Firefighters extinguished the blaze before it spread to neighboring properties.

Brogan says a smoke detector in the home didn't have a battery. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
