Joique Bell Spent A Lot Of Money On An Uber Ride In London

By Danny Cox

The Detroit Lions are currently in London and trying to get their second win of the season when they take on the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday. It's possible as the Chiefs are not having a great season either, but the Lions are doing a lot of things to adjust to the time difference in London and it includes a lot of money and some room darkening shades.

Joique Bell spent a lot of money on an Uber ride so he could get home

With a day off in England on Tuesday, a number of players decided to head into greater London to take in the sights and enjoy some shopping. Upon arriving, they had some fun and picked up great souvenirs and really made the most of their time there. When it was time to return to their hotel though, things stopped being so much fun.

Running back Joique Bell was the veteran of a particular group of Lions who went shopping. They went to a number of places and it seemed to be taking too long. With that, Bell spent 166 pounds on an Uber ride back to the facility and that amounts to $253.84 in American dollars.

"We went down to London," Bell told reporters in England. "We went to Harrod's. We went to Zara. I was ready to go within two hours. We had to wait three hours for Theo [Riddick] really to finish shopping. So we left there, went to go get a bite to eat and caught a very expensive Uber ride back up here."

It didn't help matters, or the Uber fare, that the driver got lost on the way back from London to the team hotel. Still, Joique Bell was happy to be back and said he wasn't sure what Riddick bought, but believes he "picked up a new ego."

The Lions are trying desperately to adjust to the London time difference

Being over in London means a big time difference, and the Lions are doing whatever they can to get adjusted to it. Having made the trip last year too, they decided to be prepared. Not only did they bring their own chef, but a sleep specialist came along to help them sleep and instructed them to cover their eyes.

"You may see some guys with sunglasses on early in the morning," Lions coach Jim Caldwell told reporters in England on Wednesday. "They are supposed to wear sunglasses until a certain time for the next couple of days. I have mine in my pocket, I would have them on right now, but you guys might think that I have them on for another reason, so I had to take them off."

Not only are the shades a method to help with their sleep pattern, but it was also suggested that they eat at the same time each day and sleep on the plane too. Caldwell says that they are simply trying to "trick your body into a little different norm."

After losing a lot of sleep last year, this was one of the big changes that the Detroit Lions made sure was rectified.
