Missing Since Sunday: Man On Camping Trip With Family

MONROE (WWJ) - On Sunday, October 25, Stanley Eliot Moore walked toward Lake Erie to fish in the early morning hours and hasn't been seen since.

Missing Stanley Moore cropMoore, 53, from Inkster, was visiting Sterling State Park overnight with family for some fishing and camping.

 

On October 25, at daybreak, Moore's fishing gear was located on the bank near the channel, but he could not be found.

Park Rangers were called and they searched the area surrounding the channel and Lake Erie shoreline - when they were unable to find him they called the Sheriff's office.

On October 26, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office Dive Team conducted an underwater search of the channel located on the south side of the campground.

On October 27, Sheriff's deputies conducted a ground search and used the department's helicopter.

On October 29, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office Dive Team assisted with searching Lake Erie, the channel, and lagoon using a side scan sonar.

Moore is approximately 5'11" tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a purple hooded jacket and jeans.
