Man Accused Of Taking Upskirt Pictures At Macomb County Meijer

LENOX TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - An Algonac man was arrested after authorities say he secretly took upskirt pictures of women at a Macomb County Meijer store.

The Macomb County Sheriff's office received from "a complainant" a digital storage device containing images and videos of women who had no idea they were being recorded.

Sheriff's Lt. John Michalke said an investigation revealed the images were taken at the Meijer on 26 Mile Road in Lenox Township — and they identified the suspect as 44-year-old Steven Lipa.

"He had affixed the camera to either his shoe or the lower part of his leg," Michalke told WWJ Newsradio 950's Zahra Huber.

"He was able to get up close to women who were unsuspecting, and then either put his foot or his leg close enough to them where he could have an ability to film up underneath their skirt or their dress," he said.

Michalke said detectives were able to determine identify Lipa as a suspect because he had inadvertently shot video of himself as he was setting up the camera.

Lipa was arrested last Friday as he got off a plane at Detroit Metro Airport and was arraigned on Saturday on two counts of surveilling an unclothed person, a two-year felony.

He posted a $50,000 cash/surety bond and was released. He's due beck in court for a hearing on Monday, Nov. 9.
