3 Tornadoes Confirmed Friday Morning In Michigan
BAD AXE, Mich. (CBS Detroit) - That National Weather Service has confirmed three "weak" tornadoes touched down in Michigan's Thumb region as storms swept across the state Friday morning.
A damage survey found the first one, with an EF-0 rating, hit at 6:46 a.m. in Huron County. It formed just south of M-53 at Barrie Road in Bad Axe, traveling a little more than half-a-mile at a speed of 85 mph.
The brief tornado bent over two billboards with i-beams, partially blew off a roof and caused extensive damage to a tree. No deaths or injuries were reported.
The second, slightly stronger, tornado — with an EF-1 rating — hit at 7:13 a.m. in Sanilac County, east of Applegate.
An NWS damage survey found that the tornado began about a half-mile east of the intersection of Marlette and Loeding roads.

No deaths or injuries were reported.
At 7:20 a.m. in St Clair county, a third tornado touched down in Yale at the intersection of Kilgore and Jeddo Roads. This was an EF-0 storm with winds up to 85 mph. Three barns were destroyed and another had its roof partially peeled off. No one was hurt.
On top of those tornadoes, swaths of damaging downburst winds of up to 85 mph. were recorded just south and east of Bad Axe. The NWS survey found the damage began along Bad Axe Road, northwest of Huron County Memorial Airport and in the area of M-19 and M-142. Extensive tree damage was found in that area including mostly pines that were snapped in half and uprooted.
