DETROIT (AP) — A 26-year-old suburban Detroit man has been ordered to stand trial in the slaying of a woman contacted through a website listing personal ads.

A preliminary hearing was held Friday for Jerome Moore of Oak Park on a charge of first-degree murder. Prosecutors say Moore made contact Aug. 15 with 23-year-old Cynthia Worthy on Backpage.com, a social media site that carries personal ads including people looking for sex.

Worthy's body was found two days later in a Detroit alley. She had been stabbed.

The Detroit News reports defense attorney William Winters objected to Moore being bound over for trial. Winters says authorities have only "circumstantial" evidence in the case.

The Wayne County prosecutor's office says Moore's next court appearance is next Friday.
