Northbound I-75 Closed Due To Truck Fire On Rouge River Bridge

DETROIT (WWJ) - Northbound I-75 was shut down after Schaefer, late Friday morning, due to a semi truck on fire on the Rouge River bridge.

Detroit Fire crews were on the scene alone with Michigan State Police. It was not immediately clear if anyone was hurt or what caused the fire.

Backups were reported back to Southfield Road. WWJ Traffic Reporter John Bailey suggested motorists exit I-75 at Southfield Road and head to I-94 to get around it.

All lanes had reopened by 10 a.m.

Drivers on the Rouge River bridge just can't catch a break. Lanes have been closed off and on all week for pothole repairs. A two-week patching project will have one lane closed throughout the day, with multiple lanes closed overnights and weekends. The bridge is scheduled for a major overhaul in 2017.
