2 State Troopers Injured In Crash In Farmington Hills
FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) - Two Michigan State Police troopers were hurt in a drunken driving crash early Sunday morning in Farmington Hills.
According to MSP Lt. Michael Shaw, the troopers dad just completed a traffic stop, shortly after 3 a.m. — on the shoulder of I-696, east of Orchard Lake Road — when a 2009 Jaguar drifted out of the lanes and hit the back of the patrol car.
The driver, a 33-year-old Farmington man, was arrested after police say he failed a field sobriety test. He was taken to the Oakland County Jail where he remains lodged pending formal charges.
The troopers, who suffered minor injuries, were taken to a local hospital, treated and released.
"This incident is another reminder for all motorists that state law requires you to #MoveOver for stationary emergency vehicles that have their lights activated or slow down and pass with caution if it is not possible to safely change lanes," reads a message posted on the MSP Facebook page. "The law applies to police, fire, rescue, ambulance, wrecker and road service vehicles."
