Detroit-Area Man Facing 3rd Sentence In Child Porn Case

DETROIT (AP) - A Detroit-area man whose sentence for child pornography remains unsettled after more than six years is returning to court.

Federal Judge Mark Goldsmith postponed the sentence in October to give prosecutors a chance to compare Rufus Robinson to another defendant who didn't get prison.

Robinson appears in court on Monday.

A different judge twice refused to lock up Robinson, saying he had mental health problems. Those light sentences were overturned and the case was reassigned.

Prosecutors want three years in prison. Defense attorney Kim Stout is requesting house arrest.

The judge asked the government to compare Robinson to Nick Dubin, who didn't get prison for child porn. Stout notes that Dubin, who has Asperger's syndrome, is the son of a law professor and was represented by a former high-ranking prosecutor.
