Unidentified Bicyclist In Serious Condition After Being Struck By Car

TROY (WWJ) - Authorities say an unidentified man is in serious condition after he was struck by a vehicle while riding his bike.

The accident happened around 3:15 p.m. Monday at Wattles and Livernois in Troy, just east of I-75.

Witnesses told police that the bicyclist was crossing Livernois when he was struck by a southbound traveling vehicle.

The bicyclist was rushed to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital where he is listed in serious condition.

The driver involved was not injured and remained at the scene, police said.

The identity of the bicyclist is not known at this time. He is described as a white male in his 50s with gray hair. He was wearing a maroon sweatshirt and gray pants at the time of the crash.

Police say it does not appear that alcohol was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 248-524-3477.
