Central Michigan Attempts Awful Onside Kick And Cheerleaders Are Told To Be Quiet [VIDEO]

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) — Phillip Ely threw for 322 yards and two touchdowns, Kareem Hunt ran for 118 yards and two scores, and Toledo beat Central Michigan 28-23 on Tuesday night for the Rockets' sixth straight victory in the series.

Toledo opened the game with a 12-play scoring drive, capped by Ely's shovel pass to Michael Roberts for a 2-yard touchdown. Hunt's 41-yard touchdown run up the middle made it 14-0. Early in the second quarter, Ely found Diontae Johnson down the sideline for a 36-yard TD.

But Central Michigan scored the next 17 points and got to 28-23 with 3:26 left.

Toledo's Jameson Vest missed a 33-yard field goal with 26 seconds remaining, but Cheatham Norrils sealed it two plays later with an interception.

Alonzo Russell had 86 yards receiving for Toledo (8-1, 5-1 Mid-American).

Cooper Rush was 33-of-52 passing with two touchdowns and one interception for Central Michigan (5-5, 4-2).
