You did read the headline right. Tuesday evening, the former Tigers' left fielder won the AL Gold Glove for American League left fielders.

This is the first Gold Glove for Cespedes.

He played in 102 games for the Tigers before being traded to the New York Mets at the trade deadline.

According to ESPN.com:

In 99 games in left field with the Tigers, Cespedes accumulated 11 defensive runs saved, the most of any left fielder in the American League. He had four more Defensive Runs Saved at the position with the Mets, though he primarily played center field for them.

The other players up for the award were the Royals' Alex Gordon and the Yankees' Brett Gardner. This is the first Gold Glove a Tigers' player has won since 2009 (Placido Polanco).
