Detroit Techno Artists 'Safe' After Postponing Performances Just Miles From Paris Terrorist Attacks

DETROIT (WWJ) -- The world came to a standstill on Friday when a group of terrorists took the lives of over 100 people in Paris, France.

Performances were postponed for Michigan natives Carl Craig and Kevin Saunderson, credited as originators of the Detroit techno movement. The two were scheduled to perform at a venue called Virgo, which is just over a mile away from where terrorists attacked attendees of a concert at the Bataclan concert hall.

The performance was touted as "Detroit Love." Craig responded to a tweet from WXYZ asking if the artists were safe.

A series of shootings and explosions killed at least 100 people during the attacks, while hundreds of others were held hostage. French president François Hollande declared a state of emergency, closing all of the country's borders.
