Huron-Clinton Metroparks Approve Daily Fee Increase To $10

BRIGHTON (WWJ/AP) - Officials with Huron-Clinton Metroparks have approved entrance fee increases and a $50 million budget.

The board voted unanimously Thursday to approve increasing 2016 daily entrance fees to $10 at the system of 13 parks in southeast Michigan. The new rate is $3 more than what is currently charged, and double the $5 charged last year. Annual vehicle fees already were increased from $30 to $35 for 2016.

Fees also are increasing to $15 from $10 for other activities, such as cross-country skiing and boat storage and special events such as after-hours fireworks shows.

The fee increases are expected to raise $1.2 million and will help fund new spending initiatives included in the new budget, including an increase in part-time staff, new vehicles and improvements to facilities.
