Inside The Paris Stadium: Troy Man Talks About The Attack During Soccer Game

TROY (WWJ) - While most Americans heard or watched the events unfolding in Paris from the comfort of home, one Troy couple heard the explosions and witnessed one of the attacks first hand.

Dan Sharkey of Troy was visiting France with his wife and was in Paris when the city was rocked by terror attacks on Friday.

Speaking live on WWJ, Sharkey says they were at a soccer game at the time. That's where one of the terrorists was apparently stopped by security at the gate--and instead detonated his suicide vest outside the venue.

"I am so thankful that they had good security, it was the security where they made the males and females split off to one side and the other, and they really frisk you ... it was a very aggressive frisk, not one of these where you walk through and open your jacket," said Sharkey.

Sharkey says while he's not going to let the attacks keep him from traveling abroad, his wife would prefer they stay in the US for the time being.

The attacks in Paris left at least 129 people dead and 352 injured, a French defense official says they have conducted "massive" airstrikes that have destroyed two jihadi sites in the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) group's de facto capital in Syria.
