Lions Hope To Keep Win Streak Alive And Avoid These Thanksgiving Foods

By Danny Cox

The Detroit Lions just won their second game in a row, and now they have a short week to prepare for the Philadelphia Eagles who have been falling lately. Their Thanksgiving Day game will be one that is very winnable for them and a victory would do nothing but strengthen morale even more. After the game is over though, the Lions know which foods they won't be eating on the holiday.

Lions are looking very healthy in hopes of continuing their winning streak

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell didn't have to worry about answering a lot of injury questions when practice started this week as his team is finally looking healthy. Sure, players like Josh Wilson, DeAndre Levy, and Rashean Mathis are on injured reserve, but those were already known about. Now, a short week is upon them and a game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thanksgiving Day is approaching. The Lions are looking healthy and better than they have all season.

"You come out of a ballgame, there's always going to be challenges," Caldwell said Monday. "This game is not ... two-hand touch, so there's some issues that you have to deal with, and that's the problem with a short week. If guys have a significant injury the chance is that you may get him back on Sunday, but you won't get him back on Thursday and that's always a bit of a problem. So we're working our way through any scenario that we have like that."

A few players have some bumps and bruises, but nothing that is looking like it will keep them from practicing or playing in Thursday's game.

The Thanksgiving Day foods that some Detroit Lions simply won't eat

After the game is over on Thursday, members of the Detroit Lions will be spending time with their families and friends to celebrate the holiday. Now, there are some things they won't be eating though as certain players revealed the Thanksgiving Day foods they just don't want ever again.

WR Calvin Johnson: "That's tough. Really don't have any. Man, the worst Thanksgiving food, I love collard greens but I hate turnip greens. That's the only thing I can think of."

QB Matthew Stafford: "I have no answer for you. I like all foods. I'm sorry."

WR Golden Tate: "Dry dressing is the worst. It's not good."

CB Darius Slay: "Turkey. So nasty. I hate turkey. I don't know why Thanksgiving has like turkey as a logo. That's like a logo for turkey. It has to be ham, because ham is way better than turkey. Turkey is terrible. I hate turkey. So nasty. Hate turkey."

The Detroit Lions are hoping that their Thanksgiving Day meal on Thursday will be a happy one, and a win will make just about anything taste good.
