Ohio Governor Bans Khakis Ahead Of Wolverines-Buckeyes Rivalry Game

The annual matchup between the Michigan Wolverines and Ohio State Buckeyes has a long history, but the rivalry has been more about off-the-field antics than on-the-field performance lately.
Ever since former Michigan coach Brady Hoke referred to the Buckeyes as "Ohio" the sparring of pregame quotes has been more vicious than in-game hits.
As Cleveland.com reports, Ohio governor John Kasich -- just two years after banning the letter "M" during game week -- is encouraging Ohioans to forgo wearing khakis this week, a trademark of Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh.
"From the resolution:
WHEREAS, his style recalls guys standing around, being very casual and witty on a front porch in a 1991 Dockers commercial, which offended Jerry Seinfeld in the episode The Phone Message;
It finishes by declaring Saturday as Scarlet Letter Saturday throughout Ohio and encouraging
all Ohioans to avoid using the letter M on this day, and to avoid wearing pleated khakis on this day and all days."
This goofiness comes ahead of what should be a quality game between two legitimate teams playing for a chance at an appearance in the Big Ten Championship game. After years of Michigan ineptitude (10 losses in 11 tries) and Ohio State dominance, The Game has restored its luster.
