$10,000 Reward Offered To Catch Man Suspected Of Robbing 7 Banks Across Metro Detroit

TROY (WWJ) - A man wanted by police since April for robbing three banks in Troy is now suspected of pulling off a total of seven similar crimes across metro Detroit this year, and authorities are hoping a $10,000 cash reward is enough for someone to turn him in.

Police say the suspect, a white male in his 30s or 40s, is currently being sought in connection with seven bank robberies in metro Detroit, three of which occurred in Troy.

The latest incident occurred around 10:50 a.m. on October 27 at the TCF Bank on Coolidge near Maple Road -- the same bank that was robbed back in April. The man entered the bank, demanded money and implied he had a weapon. No one was injured in the incident and the suspect took off after getting what he came for.

The suspect was wearing a black baseball hat with tape over the logo and a grey hooded sweatshirt with tape over the logo. He's described as 5'9" to 5'11" tall with a medium build and possibly brown hair.

Investigators believe the suspect is the same man who robbed the TCF Bank in April, as well as the TCF Bank on Big Beaver Road in September. In those two cases, like the most recent robbery, the suspect had tape over the logos on his sweatshirt and hat.

Police did not immediately provide details on the other four robberies, which are also under investigation by the FBI.

The $10,000 reward offered for information that leads to the arrest of the suspect is being provided by Crime Stoppers, the FBI and TCF Bank.

Anyone with information on the case is urged to contact Troy police at 248-524-3477 or the FBI at 313-965-2323.
