ROCHESTER HILLS (WWJ) - A Rochester Hills man with a huge cache of weapons is facing multiple charges after authorities say he tried to kill his wife.

Oakland County Sheriff's officials say 68-year-old John Lewis Piotrowski got into an argument with his wife Tuesday, allegedly beating her and then shooting at her twice. Both shots missed.

"The victim was talking with her husband in the bedroom of the home when he got up and said he was going to kill her grabbing her around the neck," according to a sheriff's office report. "She was able to get away from him and retreated to the basement to call 911."

When deputies arrived at the home — in the 2500 block of John R, near East Auburn Road — they were surprised to find a total of 145 firearms. Deputies ended up removing 87 rifles and 58 handguns from the home.

Piotrowski was arrested and arraigned in 52-3 District Court on charges of intent to murder, assault with a dangerous weapon and two counts of possession of a firearm in commission of a felony. Bond was set at $500,000, no 10 percent.

Piotrowski remains lodged at the Oakland County jail pending his next court appearance set for Tuesday, Dec. 16.

He faces up to life in prison if convicted.
