Contractor Charged With Attempting To Defraud Detroit Land Bank

DETROIT (WWJ) - A local contractor has been charged with a felony for allegedly over billing Detroit's Land Bank Authority.

Barry Ellentuck of West Bloomfield is president of ADR Consulting and does abestos abatement for the authority.

The State Attorney General's office says Ellentuck allegedly pressured an employee to falsify documents to maintain the appearance that the over-billing of more than 100 excess hours to the Detroit Land Bank was accurate.

"The Land Bank and the Detroit Land Bank received bills from ADR and Mr. Ellentuck, for what he says are, services he rendered for the city of Detroit and the state of Michigan, but they noticed inconsistencies in the billing verses the work completed," says Andrea Bitely with the state attorney general's office.

Bitely says the Land Bank was over charged by about $6,000. Ellentuck is charged with one count of attempted false pretenses with intent to defraud which is a two-and-a-half-year felony.
