Lions Release Offensive Lineman LaAdrian Waddle, Make Other Roster Moves

LaAdrian Waddle has been a healthy scratch several times this season, and has struggled to maintain playing time. Now, the Lions have cut Waddle, according to the team, and replaced him on the roster with center Gabe Ikard from the Browns, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Waddle had been part of a nearly constantly shuffling offensive line this season and never really found his way. He also suffered through injuries during the early part of the season that limited his availability.

According to the Free Press, the Lions claimed Ikard off waivers from Cleveland. The move comes just a couple of days after Detroit lost a game on a botched snap from current center Travis Swanson.

On the rest of the injury front, tight end Brandon Pettigrew also tore his ACL in the game against St. Louis Sunday. The Lions placed him on season-ending injured reserve Tuesday.

Head coach Jim Caldwell had said on Monday the team was evaluating the possibility of signing someone at that position to replace Pettigrew. Tim Wright hasn't made a huge splash this season, and Eric Ebron still struggles with blocking (and has several drops on the season too).

To help alleviate the tight end woes, the Lions signed Bear Pascoe, who played five years for the Giants and was with Atlanta last season.

In his five years in the NFL, Pascoe has caught 40 passes for 336 yards and two touchdowns.
