Local Ski Slopes Re-Open For Business Thanks To Freezing Temps, Snow

HOLLY (WWJ) - Thanks to this blast of winter weather, a couple of area ski slopes will be re-opening Saturday after keeping their doors closed for weeks due to unseasonably warm temperatures.

The cold weather is back and the snow machines are on at Mt. Holly, which will be open from 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday with at least three trails open. Alpine Valley is also re-opening Saturday, from 3 to 11 p.m.

Both places say additional trails could be opened throughout the day if they can make enough snow. They also plan to keep the snow machines on overnight in order to take full advantage of this cold blast for as long as it lasts.

Mt. Brighton's website says it is still closed due to the weather.

The ski hills opened for a few days earlier this month, but the snow melted with the unusually high temperatures.

If you want to ski or snowboard, get out there while you can because forecasters say we could see more record high temperatures next week.

Mt. Holly is located at 13536 Dixie Hwy. in Holly. Alpine Valley is located at 6775 Highland Road in White Lake.
