Calvin Johnson will not participate in this year's Pro Bowl. Although the decision comes the day after news broke that he was contemplating his future in football, this is not a rare choice for Johnson. He skipped out on the game just last year, for example, because of a pestering ankle injury.

Jaguars wide receiver Allen Robinson will take Johnson's place on the Pro Bowl roster. The story on the Jaguars' team website says that Johnson won't participate because of "injury."

Johnson has practiced on a limited basis since midway through this season, and was listed as questionable for nearly half the Lions' games in 2015. He has dealt with another nagging ankle injury all season.

Of course, skipping out on the Pro Bowl this year shoves Johnson even further into the limelight. He released a statement on Wednesday saying he was "evaluating options for my future" and would have a decision in the "not-too-distant future."

This season, Johnson finished with 88 receptions for 1,214 yards and nine touchdowns. It was his sixth straight 1,000-yard season.
