Body Found In Vacant Apartment Basement 'Burned Beyond Recognition'
DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities in Detroit are investigating an apparent homicide after a man was found "burned beyond recognition" on the city's east side.
The incident unfolded early Tuesday morning when fire crews were called to extinguish a blaze at a vacant apartment building on Whittier near I-94.
After putting out the flames, firefighters discovered a man's body in the basement. Officials say he was horribly burned and they're not yet sure of his identity. A cause of death wasn't immediately clear.
An investigation is ongoing.
