Former Tailback Mike Hart Added To Syracuse Football Staff

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Former Michigan tailback Mike Hart is returning to his central New York roots.

Hart, who starred in high school in suburban Syracuse, was named Wednesday as running backs coach for the Syracuse Orange. Hart coached the offensive backfield at Western Michigan the past two years.

Orange head coach Dino Babers also appointed former Western Michigan defensive line coach Vinson Reynolds to the same position at Syracuse.

Hart, who spent five years coaching in the Mid-American Conference, began his coaching career as a quality-control assistant for offense at Eastern Michigan in 2011 and also served as running backs coach there for two seasons prior to his two-year stint at Western Michigan.

Hart spent three injury-shortened seasons in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts.

Hart set the national high school record for career rushing touchdowns (204) and finished second in career rushing yards with 11,045. Onondaga Central High School was 46-1 and won three state championships with Hart, who also ranks as Michigan's all-time leading rusher with 5,040 yards.
