Police: Man Killed Trying To Cross Mound Road Might Have Been Drinking

STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) - Authorities say a man who was struck by a vehicle and killed while walking across Mound Road might have been under the influence.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. Tuesday on Mound Road just south of 18 Mile Road in Sterling Heights.

According to police, the 40-year-old man was walking in the crosswalk, even though the signal was on "don't walk," when he was struck by a vehicle.

Witnesses at the scene were performing CPR on the man before police and EMS crews arrived. He was rushed to Troy Beaumont hospital where he died.

The 33-year-old driver who struck the man stopped at the scene and was questioned by police.

According to investigators, the victim might have been drinking prior to the accident.

An investigation is ongoing.
