The Lions have fired vice president of football operations Cedric Saunders, who is in his 10th year with the franchise:

In his duties, Saunders is responsible for coordinating the football calendar and overseeing several departments, including those for player development, video, athletic training, travel and strength and conditioning. He also deals with budgets for departmental and coaching salaries.

Saunders has been with the Lions for a decade, but was in his first year as VP of football operations.

The Lions hired Bob Quinn as the franchise's new general manager earlier this month, and he announced last week head coach Jim Caldwell would be returning. The Detroit Free Press reported this week that Quinn had fired several on the strength and conditioning staff.
