What were you doing in 1990? I was 7 years old and probably thinking about how I didn't want to go to school and wondering how could I get myself a pair of Air Jordans.

The 1989-90 season was the last time the Detroit Red Wings failed to make the playoffs and it appears that streak won't die this year either.

After a 4-2 win over the New York Islanders Monday night, the Red Wings sit in second place in the Atlantic Division with 58 points, trailing only the Florida Panthers with 61 points.

USA Today gave NHL teams a grade at the midway point and the Red Wings fared well. With a B+ grade only the Blackhawks, Stars, Kings Capitals, Coyotes, Hurricanes and Blues had a better grade.

A well-oiled machine from the front office through player personnel, the Red Wings' playoff streak will likely continue, even under first-year coach Jeff Blashill.

Detroit returns from the All-Star break to face the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday February 3rd, which you can listen to on 97.1 The Ticket starting at 7:40 p.m.
