Michael Keaton Questions Role Of Reporters In Flint Water Crisis

FLINT, Mich. (WWJ/AP) - Another celebrity has taken the opportunity to address the Flint's lead-contaminated water crisis.

Actor Michael Keaton told reporters backstage Saturday night at the 22nd annual Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles that reporters could have gotten ahead of the crisis.

Keaton said that "had there been a spotlight put on that ... maybe they would have been a little bit ahead of the situation."

Closer to the crisis, before a show at Detroit's Masonic Temple, rapper Snoop Dogg made several stops around the state and documented much of it on his Instagram account.

Wearing a Flint Lives Matter shirt he said, "On my way to Detroit, had to stop by Flint, Michigan. Do some positive work."

In a meeting with Flint Mayor Karen Weaver Snoop got up to speed on the contaminated water crisis and the two made plans for "immediate and long-term action," Weaver told Mlive, but they couldn't reveal details.

Other celebrities involved in water donation efforts or have pledged support include Cher, Eminem and Madonna.

Flint switched in 2014 to the Flint River from Detroit's water system to save money. The river water was not treated properly and lead from pipes leached into Flint homes.
