Ann Arbor Plans Replacement Of Lead Water Pipe Connections
ANN ARBOR (WWJ/AP) - Officials in Ann Arbor say the city plans to eventually replace more than 100 lead water pipe connections.
In a newsletter by City Council member Sabra Briere, city staff said that there are no records of lead pipes for water or sewer mains within its system. But they say there are still 118 lead connections that the city knows about and plans to replace.
According to the Ann Arbor News, Briere said she was asked by a constituent whether Ann Arbor has lead pipes and, if so, what the city is doing to replace them. Water in Flint has become contaminated with lead that leached from pipes into homes.
Ann Arbor city staff said results of sampling for lead from residential customers' taps there have been very low.
