Lions Announce Ticket Price Increases

Following their 7-9 campaign, the Lions have announced to their season ticket holders there will be a "modest" increase in ticket prices.

In an email to season ticket holders, president Rod Wood admitted the team's "end result still did not meet the standards the Ford family has set for this organization." He explained the "exciting" additions Detroit had made in recent weeks, including general manager Bob Quinn. And Wood promised fans that the organization, through free agency and the draft, would be "aggressive in improving our roster."

The Lions started the season 1-7, fired several from their coaching staff and front office, and finished the season on a 6-2 streak. Quinn announced soon after his hiring that he would retain head coach Jim Caldwell.

Although Detroit "finished better than we started," according to Wood's letter, the team still followed up its playoff appearance from the 2014 season with a lackluster record, including the worst start in the NFL. The team missed the playoffs, amid "aspirations of bringing Super Bowl championships to Detroit," which Wood also declared in the letter.

Wood did not disclose how much the ticket prices would increase. But he did claim that the Lions would still be in the bottom third of the NFL in terms of average prices, and that Lions season tickets were "one of the best values in the league."
