Boyfriend Charged With Open Murder In Death Of Kajavia Globe

DETROIT (WWJ) - The 24-year-old boyfriend of a Detroit woman who was found dead days after being reported missing has been charged in her murder.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office says 24-year-old Maxwell Brack was arraigned Saturday morning in Romulus' 34th District Court on a charge of open murder, which carries a maximum penalty of life in prison without parole. He was remanded to jail without bond and is due back in court for a probable cause conference on Feb. 12 and a preliminary exam ‎on Feb. 19.

Kajavia Globe, 24, was reported missing by her family on December 11. Her body was found three days later in a trash container behind a location in the 18500 block of Fielding Street on Detroit's west side, in the area of 7 Mile Road and Evergreen.

Prosecutors say an investigation by the Detroit Police Department identified Brack as Globe's killer. He was arrested in connection with the case on Friday.

The day she went missing, Globe was last seen around noon leaving her work in the area of McNichols Road and the Southfield Freeway, according to police, driving a gold 2003 Chevrolet Impala. The vehicle was found abandoned near Chatham and Fenkell on Dec. 14, just hours before Globe's body was discovered. Police said evidence that a crime was committed was found in Globe's vehicle, but they wouldn't elaborate.

Globe's cause of death has not yet been determined. The Wayne County medical examiner's office said a thorough investigation that included a toxicology screening was unable to determine how Globe died.

Police haven't yet revealed a motive, but chilling surveillance photos taken the evening Globe disappeared show someone in a skeleton mask using her bank card to withdraw cash at a drive-through ATM at 7 Mile Road and Telegraph.
