Clean Water 'Has To Be A National Priority' Says Clinton During Stop In Flint
FLINT (CBS Detroit) - Just days before the New Hampshire primary and on the heels of a narrow win in the Iowa caucuses, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in Flint Sunday, addressing the city's water crisis.
Clinton telling residents gathered at a community meeting inside a Baptist church on the city's north side, that she will fight for the residents and clean water "as long as it takes."
"I want you to know this has to be a national priority not just for today or tomorrow; clean water is not optional my friends," said Clinton.
It's the second time Clinton has visited the city since the issue made national headlines this year.
The former Secretary of State's campaign handlers say she'll use the trip to urge the Senate to approve the Democrats' $600 million amendment to help fix the water crisis.
Clinton was joined by Flint mayor Karen Weaver.
