Included in the recall is the following product:

The recall was issued "in an abundance of caution" after the supplier of the banana chips used in the filling notified Jel Sert of possible contamination, according to Chicago-based Jel Sert Company.

Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with salmonella can result in more severe illnesses.

Anyone who has the recalled pie filling should throw it away.

Those with questions can call the manufacturer at 866-853-1969.
